First of all, the term Flexible Dieting is a little bit misleading. Although “Dieting” is in the title, we believe this doesn’t represent the feeling you get when you undertake this plan. Clients find immediately that they were not eating anywhere near enough food to support their lifestyle or performance. We have seen, time and time again, that people are almost intimidated from the amount of food they need to eat to reach the goals we set them. Flexible Dieting is a nutrition plan that bases what your food intake should be per day in a macronutrient breakdown. Macronutrients, or Macros, are fat, protein and carbohydrates that make up food. All foods are made up of one, some or all of these macros in any combination of ratios. Fruit have a higher carbohydrate profile where butter has a higher fat and chicken a higher protein.
Another thing you must understand about Flexible Dieting is that NO FOOD is off limits. As long as you do not have an allergy as diagnosed by a medical practitioner then you can eat ANYTHING your heart desires. You have to remember though you must fill completely and not go over your macro profile for the day. So that donut you really want? Have it, but realize you may need to give up that dinner roll later or have 1 slice of pizza instead of two. It is all about balance.
Another term used to describe Flexible Dieting is “If It Fits Your Macros” or IIFYM. So remember to keep that in mind as you begin your journey with us. “Can I eat this? Let me see if it fits my macros!”
